Monday 11th May

practice the sounds already covered: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, f, l, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, qu, sh, ch, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or  - choose some and call them out for your child to write down. They don't have to do this on paper - they can use water and a paintbrush outside or in the bath, chalk on the ground, use their finger to draw it on the palm of your hand, draw it in the air, with their finger on the back of someone else in the house.

Look at a picture of a boat, car, rocket, cart, jeep. See the PowerPoint with pictures on. Ask your child to write a caption for at least one picture e.g. This is my jeep. This rocket can go to the moon. This boat can zoom. This cart can go to the park. The car is on the road. The boat has got a sail.

    

Tuesday 12th May

Read the 'ur' words are: fur, burn, burp, curl, hurt, surf, turn, turnip.

Do the ur sheet – do sheet 3.

 

Wednesday 13th May

Recap on the ur sound – write it in the air, write it outside.

Read the captions with your child:  If I burn my leg, it will hurt. I can surf or sail a boat. My dog has fur on his tail.

Thursday 14th and  Friday 15th

The action is imitating pinching their arm and saying ‘ow’

Read the 'ow' words: now, down, owl, cow, how, town, fown, owp, hown, lown.

Your captions are: This owl is not feeling sad and down. I park my car in the town. How do I feed a cow?

Choose an image from the picture and write a caption

Example: The queen is asleep.

The bees are in the tree.

The sheep like to sleep.

 

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

This week there are two sounds but one grapheme (how it is written) and that is ‘oo’

There is a long ‘oo’ as in moon and a short ‘oo’ as in book.
