English today is a longer Phonics session - so see the phonics section for the lesson.
Look at rhyming words again – watch https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/ks1-english-rhyme-with-radzi/zvbm47h
Look at rhyming words for wet and snow – write the words in their writing books and illustrate.
Communication and language focus
Read the poem Rain… with your child – what do they think? Do they like the rain?
Give them a water pistol or bucket of water, can they make patterns on a window (outside obviously)? What do the patterns look like? What words do they think of when they watch the water? What is the water doing?
There is no formal recording, but I would love to see photos of them spraying water!
Today is about talk and language – use words like pattern, dribble, splash, trickle, droplet, bounce, sparkle, glisten, run.
Can they remember any of the words used to describe the rain from yesterday?
Write some of them down and illustrate with umbrellas, wellies, raindrops, puddles etc. Encourage them to sound out using their phonics from the last few weeks where possible:
pattern, dribble, splash, trickle, droplet, bounce, sparkle, glisten, run.
