EYFS Phonics

EYFS

I recommend about 10-15 minutes a day on your sounds of the week.

All the children have completed what is known as Phase 2 and they are all working at different stages of Phase 3.

Group 2

Monday 17th May

Based on last week’s phonics sound ‘ur’, read the phoneme spotter story with your child – can they highlight/point out  and read the words with ‘ur’ in them?

Choose an image from the sheet and write a caption.

Example

The cat curls up.

Sam has soft fur.

Sam has hurt her tail.

Tuesday 18th May

This week we are looking at the ‘oi’ sound

Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRTITdRL_cU

Can your child do a Geraldine and go off on an ‘oi’ hunt.

Get them to sound out the ‘oi’ words they find.

Complete the ‘ow’ ‘oi’ sheet – you can do this just as a sheet, a hunt the word activity (cut the words off the bottom and hide them around the house/garden) or they can look at the sheet on a screen and write their words in their writing books.

Ask your child to read the oi words on the PowerPoint

Complete the phase 3 digraph ‘oi’ workbook
