None of us can escape the news at the moment about the Covid-19 virus and I understand that many of you will be concerned about the impact that this will have on everyday life; including your child’s education. For now, we are continuing to follow government advice which is to keep schools open and we will do so until this advice changes. In the event of school closure, we will ensure that your child is provided with work that they can do at home. We will provide you with this information if the need arises.
We have talked about the virus in school with the children and have, of course, raised the profile of hygiene in school with an emphasis on handwashing. However the importance of following government advice around self isolation is vital.
The following advice is taken directly from the NHS website www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you’re staying at home.
Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you’re staying at home.
If these symptoms occur in school we will ring you and ask you to collect your child. Please make sure your emergency contacts are up to date and available. If these symptoms appear at home, children should remain at home for 7 days from when the symptoms begin.
Of course, if the government advice to school changes significantly I shall write again to update you further. In the meantime, I hope that we can all stay healthy.
