Reception Transition

For the attention of parents with children starting in Reception in September 2020:

We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child to school now that the government have announced that all children will return to school in September. As yet, we have not received any further information from the Department for Education with the detail of how this will look but I will be in touch as soon as we know.

In September your child will be taught by Miss Lindley who is joining us at the start of the new school year. Miss Lindley will be supported in the Infant class by Mrs Cox and Mrs Marples.

Once again I would like to say how sorry we are that all our usual transition arrangements have not been possible this year due to Covid-19. However, in order to support your child’s smooth transition into school we have arranged the following:

  • Over the next couple of weeks we will add information and messages for your child about their start at school on our school website. Please go to our school website www.rowsleyprimary.co.uk and choose the Class Pages tab. This will take you to a page about transition arrangements including a PowerPoint for parents, a message from Miss Lindley and me, as well as a recorded story time with the children we currently have in school.
  • Your child will start school on Wednesday 2nd September. We have agreed that all of our new Reception starters will make a phased start at school as follows:

Wednesday 2nd/Thursday 3rd/Friday 4th September 1 – 3pm

Monday 7th – Friday 11th September 9 – 1pm (including lunch)

From Monday 14th September it is our intention that your child will be in school full time.

There are so many ‘ifs and buts’ at the moment but all I can do is promise that we will keep in regular contact with you. I will send out a final newsletter in the next couple of weeks which will hopefully confirm these arrangements.

With very best wishes
