I am going to be sending some assessments to see where the gaps are and what I need to be planning for in the final weeks in order to get your child ready for the transition into juniors.
There are two assessment tests this week on Monday and Thursday. If you could email the numbers that your child does not get right this will help considerably.
The tests should be completed independently but you can read the questions for your child.
Tuesday and Wednesday is a Maths Investigation activity about Otis Owl.
Friday 3rd July
We are going to do a bit of revision of shape for the next 2 weeks.
LO: To know the names and properties of 3D shapes.
Ask your child to see if they can find any examples of cubes, cuboids or cylinders around the house. These might be cereal boxes, pringles tubes etc. Can your child remember the 3D shape vocabulary: faces, edges, vertices? Ask your child to count these for the shapes they have found (marking what they have counted with a felt tip/blob of blue tac can help). What do a cube and cuboid have in common? Your child might enjoy unfolding a box to see what a cube/cuboid net looks like. Then try the sheet below named 3D shapes (answers on second page). The net of a cube sheet is an extra activity they can complete if they choose.
