Well Dressing

Each year Rowsley CE Primary School creates a well-dressing, which is such an important local tradition to keep going.

This year, the theme was the 80th anniversary of VE Day, and a beautiful piece was produced, primarily using plants and flowers from the school grounds.  The project is led by Jenny and Claire from our brilliant Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, using designs from the Year 5/6 class.  During a whole week Jenny and Claire were in school every day, taking small groups of children to create the well-dressing, so that everyone could contribute.  Parents and the local community are also invited to come along and volunteer to help, and we are very grateful to those who did so this year.

There was a Blessing of the Well service on Friday, led by Reverend Mark Griffin, which was attended by the whole school, many parents and members of Rowsley Parish Council.

The well-dressing is now on display at Peak Village, please do go along and see the masterpiece for yourself.
