Merry Christmas!
The pupils and staff of Rowsley CE Primary School would like to wish all of our families and school community a peaceful and fun Christmas, and a wonderful New Year.
We have had such a busy term! We kicked off the festive season with a pantomime visit to Cinderella at Buxton Opera House - front row seats and one of our children even went up on stage! We followed this with our annual Christingle service at St Katherine's Church, which is a very beautiful and moving celebration of Christmas.
We welcomed the community to sing carols around the tree at our Carols in the Community event, which left everyone feeling Christmassy, and enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch in the Village Hall.
In class, we got cosy snuggling up with a book and hot chocolate in our pyjamas, onesies and oodies, enjoyed Christmas parties, and the infants performed their much-anticipated nativity play 'The Most Disgruntled Snowman' to an enthralled audience! We have also seen a colourful and sparkly stream of Christmas jumpers, dresses, hair accessories and headbands throughout school (and that's just the staff...).
The Friends of Rowsley School have also been hard at work this month, raising funds which benefit all the children in our school. They held a Christmas raffle (thank you to all the prize-donors, there were some fabulous ones), provided refreshments at our community events, paid for the travel to the panto, and put on a great Christmas Fun afternoon, including a visit from a magician, which left the children amazed. Thank you to all of the PTFA volunteers.
Throughout all of our celebrations the children have been enthusiastic, excited, fun to be with and impeccably-behaved. Thank you Rowsley pupils, you're the best!
Also thank you from Team Rowsley for our lovely gifts, sweets and chocolate that the families have given to us. We really do appreciate them.
Finally, an enormous thank you to the Haddon Estate, who donated the most beautiful Christmas tree, that has adorned our Library for the last few weeks.
Phew! We are all very much in the festive spirit now and ready to put our feet up for a couple of weeks.
Do check back for more news next year, where our plans include trips to Lea Green and Creswell Crags, a seaside residential for our Year 5 and 6s, and a junior summer production. Miss Lindley will visit our partner school in Kolkata, India, which we will also do lots of learning around. We have several sporting events planned with other local schools, and have recently approved plans to refurbish the infant playground! Watch this space.....
